Innovative Supplies Worldwide Inc. was started by the founder and CEO Nneka. Her company employees high school students and aims to provide work experience and training. Innovative Supplies provides one step towards helping students learn good working skills. Some of the skills they learn are filling orders, team work, social media marketing & customer relations. Innovative Supplies reaches out to the millennials with a variety of school supplies that they can identify with. Each purchase helps support job training for fellow high school students.

I learned of this opportunity through a non-profit organization I was involved in started by singer Usher Raymond called Usher's New Look Foundation. I was elected as one of two designers involved in UNL to design book covers for Innovative supplies.
One of the goals of Innovative supplies is to provide quality school supplies that youths of various ethnic backgrounds can identify with. I wanted to design an image that promotes a positive outlook on a black person's natural state of hair. I wanted the kids who receive this notebook design to know that they are not defined by their hair and that they should embrace their natural coils because their hair is beautiful.
The Break the Chains notebook cover below was designed in relation to Usher's new song at the time entitled "Chains".
The song addresses racial injustice and police brutality and my notebook cover was to be a direct reflection of the song. The handcuffs are covered in the imagery of the American flag and its colors. Though we live in a country of the "land of the free and home of the brave", black Americans are trapped and permanent prisoners is this country. Black and brown people are dying at the hands of the police every day and as a country, we turn our heads. We must break through the racial chains of injustice, acknowledge the problem and find a way to make a better change.
